Barcelona trip step by step

HOW TO GET TO BARCELONA

We can get to Barcelona from Poland in many ways, but the fastest and not much more expensive option than a bus is, of course, a plane trip. In my case, the largest part of the budget is usually spent on flights, the price for one way is around PLN 300/350, but you can also find flights for PLN 300 return, it all depends on the flexibility of dates and how far in advance we start buying our seats. For example, in October, I paid 550 PLN for flights Warsaw-Barcelona and Barcelona-Krakow one month in advance, while in February for PLN 630 I took flights Krakow-Barcelona, Barcelona-Lisbon and Lisbon-Krakow, but I bought them 3 months earlier, then I could also buy tickets both ways Krakow <-> Barcelona for PLN 420. The prices I have provided are for economy class flights with a check-in baggage allowance.

When it comes to flights, it is also worth mentioning transport from and to the airport, you can of course choose a taxi (you will find them at the exit of the terminals), train or Aerobus (tickets available at the ticket office in the terminal), but by far the cheapest way (2.2 euro or 1 euro with the T10 card) is to choose the city bus No. 46 running between the airport and the Plaça d’Espanya stop, a ticket for 2.2 € can be purchased from the driver, and the T10 card (more about public transport) at the ticket machine at the train station.

ACCOMMODATION

In February, together with a friend, we decided to stay at Hostel One Hipstel.

4 nights for two people in a co-ed room with 10 beds cost us only PLN 363 which is about PLN 45 per night per person. In addition, the hostel has an ideal location for people who travel by public transport – the metro station is about 5 minutes from the hostel as well as bus stops, moreover, according to most Catalans, the hostel is located in the center.

In October, due to the fact that I was traveling with my aunt, we chose the Aribnb offer a spacious apartment with a kitchen, two bathrooms and 4 rooms. Our room was really tiny, but it should be noted that I booked this accommodation less than 2 weeks before my arrival, moreover, I insisted on the location at Placa d’Espana. So looking at the price, comfort and location, I have nothing to complain about, but if you plan to spend more time in the apartment than sleeping and eating, I recommend choosing something larger for your own convenience.

WHEN IT’S BEST TO SEE

Here a lot depends on what weather you are counting on. Personally, I think that in February I had perfect weather for sightseeing, the temperature during the day was between 18 and 27 degrees, while at night it cooled down to around 15, so the jacket was already necessary. degrees during the day and 10 at night, we even had a rainy day, which was not the case in February. As for the summer season, I can only share with you what I heard from my Spanish friends, who strongly advised me not to come here due to the incredibly high temperatures. Looking at the weather, I think from February to May it is the most favorable to visiting this city.

COST OF LIVING

During my 4-day stay, I paid a total of 110 euros for communication, food and admission tickets, but it must be noted that I ate dinner in the restaurant once (17 euros), and on the other days we cooked ourselves (about 4 euros), and I spent only 5 euros on transport (T10 for two), but we went to the cafe every day and had churros or drinks every day, so we also spent our money on entertainment in the city center.

If you plan to use transport more often and to enter most of the monuments and eat only outside the home, you should prepare about 250/300 euro for a 4-day trip, but it is very subjective.

It is best to determine for yourself how much or less money we will need on the spot, e.g. based on entries on my blog, where I provide the prices of both admission tickets and approximate prices in restaurants.
